Founded in 1988, Dr Rüdiger Plänker has a mission in his mind. To improve one’s sleep in the most natural way.
The mission is broken into 2 parts.
First part of the mission, the most natural way. The philosphy for Dormiente is simple. It has to be pure and natual. So pure that they were edible.
Sourcing with various material and complying with the various independent organisations such as GOTS and GOLS, we are proud to say our mattress doesn’t taste good especially when deep fried.
Now to part 2 of the mission to improve one’s sleep. Dormiente has invented with a few under our belts. Designs such as the Adjustable Bed Slats and the Female|Male Design concepts, which earned endorsements such as IGR, The Association of Back Posture Trainers in Germany, LGA and ÖKOTEST.

Comfortability is something we consider while choosing a mattress. To be able to regulate the tempreature of regularly in a natural way helps save the earth and shave off the electric bill.
There is a lot of misconception online about natural latex being warm to sleep on. Due to the open cell structure and natural elasticity, natural latex is a naturally breathable and well ventilated material while doesn’t get deformed easily.
Misconception of natural latex comes from the confusion with memory foam mattress. Memory foam mattress requires body heat to take shape of the body. This results the retainment of body heat in the memory foam mattress. While natural latex has open cell structure, it is more well ventilated. it disspate the body heat and with the natural elasticity, it still gives you the support that you need.
Sleep is our body natural way to regenrate and recover from injuries. The only way to do it is naturally.
Why natural latex mattress?
Natural latex mattress is naturally anti dustmite, miledew and mould resistant due to it’s natural composition and the ventaliation of the material.
Due to the weather in Singapore, mould is suspectable and dust mite is known for causing allergy issues such as Eczema.
Dormiente follows a series of regulations that complies to rigious testing reputable international organisations such as Global Organic Textile Standards (GOTS), Global Organic Latex Standards (GOLS), QUL and ökotest
We also set the standards ourselves by going to ECO Institut a reputable, independent lab with rigorous testing on our mattress to be free from over 200 harmful materials. Report is available upon request however language will be in German.
With the usuage of our electronics devices such as our smart phones, smart home and wifi routers, we are surronded by electrical magnective field (EMF) throughout the day.
Spring mattress primary material is metal for the mattress coil. This risk of causing an emf retention in the coil itself. Especially with smart appliances being more common as time progresses.
Our mattress is made out of one solid core. That means our mattress are made of 100% natural latex and zero metal is in the mattress. We can put our head to rest for a head to a good night sleep.
Natural latex is a renewable material that takes the sap of a rubber tree. Even with the health benefits compare to other tyoes of mattress (Spring, syntethic latex and memory foam); Natural latex is a more sustainable and eco friendly material.
Natural latex uses only 10% of the energy to be made as compare to other materials.
The process from getting natural latex is getting the sap of an adult rubber tree which grows back. The trees changed the CO2 gases to Oxygen during the process of Photosynthesis. Results in cutting down greenhouse gases.

For our Bed frames and Bed slats are from trees in forest endorsed by Forest Stewartship Council (FSC) and Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC)
For our natural latex, we have regular inspection with the plantation in Sri Lanka to make sure we comply to all compliance include Fairtrade and natural latex production in various global organisations.
